We are looking for:
Byron Shire Council is currently seeking an enthusiastic Governance Support Officer. The position plays a key role in providing efficient and effective administrative and project support to the Corporate Services team, including Councillors and meetings of Council.
Specific Tasks Include:
* Producing high quality documentation and correspondence, including effective records management.
* Providing high level administrative assistance in the production and collation of reports and documents relating to the corporate services function.
* Coordinating, compiling, and distributing agendas and minutes for meetings of Council and relevant committees.
* Coordinating, attending, and providing support for meetings of Council and relevant committees, including minute taking.
* Providing customer-focused service and support to Councillors, including conference arrangements, provision of facilities and payments, annual training and development program, and maintenance of Councillors’ calendar.
The successful candidate will meet the criteria set out in the Position Description below.
Council is currently trialling evening Council meetings. The successful candidate is required to be available one (1) to two (2) evenings per month to attend the Council meetings during the trial period till June 2025 with a potential for this arrangement to be adopted for a four (4) year term. Reasonable notice will be provided for attendance at the meetings.

Location:
This position is based at Mullumbimby; however, Council can require you to work from other work sites as required for operational reasons.
