About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic team leading our approach to the provision of quality care to clients of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Medical and Surgical streams as part of the Social Work Department.
This is a full-time role that operates on a rotating roster and leads the comprehensive clinical services for Intensive Care. A Level 3 social worker works within the ICU two days a week, providing complementary support. The Level 4 social worker serves as the Social Work Team Leader for the Medical and Surgical streams, overseeing the effective and efficient delivery of social work services across diverse specialties. While part of a rotating 7-day roster, the role primarily operates Monday to Friday. Additionally, the Intensive Care Level 4 Social Worker and Team Leader participate in the on-call social work service, contributing training and expertise to this essential service at St Vincent Health Network Sydney.

About you:
We are seeking a skilled and energetic Senior Social Worker /Team Leader who possesses a passion for person centred care. We welcome applications from people who are keen to participate in comprehensive biopsychosocial care for patients, families and carers in a critical clinical environment as well as functioning at a high level of interprofessional service delivery.
Selection Criteria:
1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent's Health Australia
2. Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent tertiary qualification from a recognised tertiary provider with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) with demonstrated expertise, legislative knowledge, skills and experience in Tertiary Health.
3. Advanced clinical practice in critical illness with high level skills and knowledge of the Intensive Care social work role including expertise in risk assessments and interventions for: domestic violence, child protection, guardianship, Legal/Visa status, sudden and unexpected death including the coronial process, parental loss, mental health, drug and alcohol.
4. Demonstrated competencies, specialist knowledge and advanced practice skills in crisis intervention, trauma informed counselling, adjustment to illness and disability, short term solution focused intervention, grief and loss, complex assessments including capacity assessment, care and discharge planning in an acute setting.
5. Demonstrated commitment to and advanced experience in multidisciplinary team work in a complex environment with competing demands and priorities.
6. Demonstrated team leadership experience in managing a team of social work professionals and in the provision of clinical supervision and education of staff.
7. Experience and high level capability to lead clinical planning, research, innovation, quality improvement and education projects within social work services, ICU and the Medical/ Surgical Stream for SVHN.
8. High level oral, written, negotiation and computer communication skills including tele-health with demonstrated experience in providing a consultancy service in Health to service managers.
