The QC Laboratory Technician will support the Quality and Compliance Supervisor and Technical and Development Manager to coordinate the QC process within Haymes Paint.
This includes testing the performance of all production batches, authorise release of product, manage and record batch sampling and traceability, while creating a positive workplace culture.
This fix term contract will run for 12 months, with operational hours as Monday to Thursday, 9 hours, Friday, 4 hours.
Responsibilities
Coordinate the testing of production batches adhering to accredited standards based on specified batch sheets, while ensuring all results are entered into QC Data Program.
Direct and/or complete adjustments for production batches to ensure that production batches are within specifications.
Work with manufacturing team members to resolve paint production issues in a timely manner.
Minimize non-compliant batches and identify work off rates or other actions where required for non-compliant batches.
Assist with the maintenance of NATA accreditation through the proficiency testing program.
Ensure retain samples are collected, catalogued and stored as per APAS and Haymes Paint requirements.
Initiate and ensure completion of all assigned Corrective Action requests (CARs) in a timely manner.
Test road tanker polymer quality and ensure unloading into the correct bulk tanks.
Take samples from bulk vessels for the purposes of biological testing (mould, bacteria).
Assist in leading safety within the Lab by being proactive on safety issues, adhering to all safe work procedures and participating in safety discussions.
Skills And Experience
Understanding of the paint manufacture process (e.g., paint making, testing and application).
Ability to follow test procedures precisely and record results accurately.
Ability to interpret test results and make appropriate adjustments to batches.
Ability to correctly use engineering, systems and PPC&E controls for activities with hazardous materials including flammable liquids, corrosive materials, CMR (carcinogen, mutagen and reproductive toxin), STOT (Single Targeted Organ Toxin) and skin and respiratory irritants to keep personal and team exposure to levels under limits.
Intermediate computer skills including MS Office Packages.
Strong communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to work without supervision, prioritise tasks and maintain accurate records.
Ability to lift (occasionally) materials up to 15 Kg as an individual, higher weights as part of group lifting.
Experience And Qualifications
Familiarity with laboratory systems and practices.
Current Drivers Licence.
Forklift licence (preferred).
