Manager Legal, Procurement and ContractsThe City of Darwin is seeking a Manager Legal, Procurement and Contracts to provide specialist legal advice in a commercial and local government context, as well as provide leadership in procurement functions, compliance, and service delivery.You will work collaboratively across the organization, providing services to support effective governance and deliver on legislative compliance.Key responsibilities include: Provide timely and accurate legal advice as required across a broad range of legal areas, including preparation of reports and correspondence of complex issues.Assist with the preparation and drafting of leases, licenses, and other agreements, as well as drafting and review of contracts, documents, agreements, local laws, statutory notices, and associated documentation.Provide advice to ensure compliance with the Local Government Act 2019, other relevant legislation, regulations, and City of Darwin By-Laws 2023.Coordinate the development and implementation of appropriate policies and procedures to effectively manage the procurement function and ensure compliance with legislative requirements.Manage relevant staff to support ongoing service delivery and achieve functional objectives in procurement and contract management.About you Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:Demonstrated experience showcasing extensive commercial law expertise.Demonstrated experience managing and navigating complex procurement agreements, excelling in contract drafting, review, and negotiation.Broad expertise encompassing commercial, corporate, property, privacy, competition, consumer law, and IT regulations.Skill in delivering concise, commercially astute, and persuasive legal counsel.Experience coordinating and implementing policies, procedures, and work plans to enhance service delivery.Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, fostering collaboration and building relationships.Position prerequisites: Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and admission to the Supreme Court of the Northern Territory.Minimum of five (5) years relevant experience in a legal practice, in-house counsel, a government lawyer, or similar role providing relevant advice.Relevant supervisory experience.Ability to obtain a National Police Records Check.If this sounds interesting to you, please read the full position description or contact Brooke Prince on 8930 0540.This vacancy will remain open until the role is filled.
