Job Description Role
Principal Engineer
A permanent, full-time opportunity based in Surfers Paradise.
Hybrid working model: 2-3 days per week in the office, with the remainder of the time working from home.
This Principal Engineer role is an exciting opportunity to join one of Australia's largest banks as they embark on a multi-year digital transformation.
The role is a technical leadership position, requiring someone with strong technical skills and experience leading complex projects, as well as the ability to build engineering capability and lead within our engineering community.
This position sits within the Customer Engagement domain and is part of a Digital Delivery Train aimed at transforming staff sales and servicing technology solutions across the organisation.
The successful candidate will play a key role in building a new engineering footprint at our Gold Coast Hub.
Key responsibilities include:
* Driving technical innovation by researching and implementing new technologies, tools, and methodologies.
* Advocating for and implementing DevOps and other methodologies to improve development processes and productivity.
* Continuously evaluating and improving software development workflows and tools to enhance efficiency.
* Promoting best practices, conducting training sessions, and sharing expertise to elevate the team's overall capability.
* Overseeing the development and implementation of testing strategies, including unit tests, integration tests, and performance tests.
* Providing expert advice on technical issues, solutions, and best practices to development teams.
* Assisting with assessing engineering recruitment out of our Gold Coast Hub.
* Mentoring and coaching junior and mid-level engineers, fostering their technical and professional growth.
* Ensuring that important technical knowledge is captured and accessible to the team.
Requirements:
* Minimum 10-15 years hands-on experience with a proven track record of leading complex projects.
* Deep knowledge of Java development and awareness of current tools and technologies.
* Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to upskilling and professional development.
