Fixed Term - 12 Month ContractAlfred LocationPart Time at 64 hrs per f/n (0.8 EFT)RN G4B (YX11)Department The Neuro-Ophthalmology Unit at The Alfred was established in 2018 under the leadership of A/Prof Anneke van der Walt. The unit is supported by 4 additional consultants, 3 Neuro-Ophthalmology fellows, and rotating registrars from Ophthalmology and Neurology. The Neuro-Ophthalmology team works closely alongside Ophthalmology, orthoptists, and other neurology subspecialties, including MS and Neuroimmunology (MSNI). The Neuro-Ophthalmology service runs a clinic on Tuesday mornings and Thursday afternoons and provides limited in-patient consultation services. The Neuro-Ophthalmology research unit is involved in clinical and translational research. Establishing and maintaining the neuro-ophthalmological database will be a critical part of the research coordinator's duties as this will form the basis for future observational studies.
About The Role We invite applications for this exciting Neuro-ophthalmology Nurse Manager and Research Nurse role in the MS and Neuroimmunology/ Neuro-ophthalmology Unit at Alfred Health. This position provides an opportunity to join a dynamic team of Neuro-ophthalmology clinicians focused on delivering excellent care to people with neuro-ophthalmological disorders at Alfred Health. The incumbent will work closely with a senior nurse consultant, a second Neuro-ophthalmology nurse, a clinical Research Coordinator, an Ethics and Admin Officer, Allied health specialists, neurologists, endocrinologists, and Scientists. The incumbent will act as the Neuro-ophthalmology Clinical Manager and oversee a portfolio of Phases 1-4 of Neuro-ophthalmology trials. Research activities are integrated into the MSNI Clinical trials service with additional study coordinators. The post holder will work closely with people with neuro-ophthalmological illness. The position is ideal for an experienced nurse looking for a new and challenging role. The position is for 4 days a week, with some opportunity for flexibility with the timetable. There is also the possibility of increasing this position to 1.0 EFT with additional research time.
