FPR Energy is spun out of CSIRO – world leaders in CST technologies – we are backed by Tier-1 partners to rapidly scale our technology.Based in the lower Hunter Valley, NSW, this role offers an engineer’s dream: cutting-edge technology, real-world impact, hands-on problem-solving, and a lifestyle-friendly location in Newcastle—the fastest-growing city in NSW.The RoleDesigning, optimising and sourcing the elements of heliostats for mass manufacture, including:Designing and optimising structural steel support elements, brackets, actuators, and other fixed/moving parts for robustness and cost-effectiveness.Optimising components for automated robotic mass manufacturing, reducing costs, and improving efficiency.Designing for fast, low-cost installation in the field.Involvement in control system design, including PCBs and embedded hardware.Ensuring seamless integration between mechanical, electrical, and software components.Collaborating with local and international suppliers to drive product development and ensure manufacturability.Applying QA/QC methodologies to ensure reliable production and deployment.Managing relationships with third-party manufacturers to ensure quality and cost targets are met.YouQualifications in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar, likely with 7+ years experienceHave a very organised and structured approach to your workAre on top of all the details: AlwaysNot afraid to work quickly and to make and own decisionsAbsolutely ensure that nothing is missed, and an understanding of QA/QC methodologiesStrong and demonstrably successful experience in designing for and organising mass manufacture, and establishing supplier networks.
