About the team
Coles Group Insurance protects our team members, customers, and business. We work across a variety of areas, from workers compensation to property insurance to public liability insurance. Our team offers strategic advice that guides decision making and helps Coles Group achieve its business outcomes.
As a national team, we engage and collaborate across all Coles brands including Coles Supermarkets, Coles Liquor Retail, and our Supply Chain logistics business. We support our injured team members and help to facilitate their recovery both at work and at home.
About the role
Reporting to the State Manager – Coles Team Cover, you will lead a team of claims specialists to take a strategic approach to claims management to help our injured team members recover and deliver on business objectives such as reducing workers compensation liabilities and managing reputational risks for our business. You will:
1. Develop, mentor, and lead a high-performing and cohesive team that is enthusiastic, empathetic, strategic, efficient, and outcome-focused.
2. Develop a thorough understanding of each Coles brand and establish strong relationships with key stakeholders to manage claims effectively and reduce liabilities and reputational risk.
3. Engage and provide trusted advice to our business to minimise the current and future claims’ risks.
4. Build team capability in understanding drivers of successful return to work claims management and implement strategies to ensure the team achieve strong return to work outcomes.
5. Continuously improve operational claims management and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
About you and your skills
We are looking for someone with considerable experience in workers compensation in New South Wales who is able to demonstrate the ability to lead, coach and develop a high performing workers compensation claims team. You will also need:
1. Ability to build capability and coach on relevant claims management processes from claim intimation to closure.
2. Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to influence at all levels to get the right outcomes for injured team members and the business.
3. Strong organisational and time management skills.
4. Excellent communication, problem-solving, conflict management and resolution skills.
5. A qualification or certification in a health or business-related field and / or workers compensation experience in a self-insured organisation will be highly desirable.
