Metro South Region is seeking a dedicated and passionate Youth Transition Officer to join the team.
The Youth Transition Officer works as a member of the Student Services team specifically supporting children and young people connected with Child Safety, Youth Justice or who have been referred to the region for support.The Department of Education is dedicated to building an inclusive and diverse workforce that reflects the community and schools we support by treating everyone with respect and dignity.

The methods of assessing suitability in the recruitment process may vary, including making reasonable adjustments to support applicants at all stages of the process and employee lifecycle.Your RoleResponsibilities include:Assist Court Liaison Officers in supporting young people in the youth justice system to engage, or reengage, with education and training.Provide support to young people and their families to ensure they are well informed of their available options relating to viable education and training pathways.Work with and support the needs of vulnerable young people from diverse and complex backgrounds, including First Nations young persons, young persons with disability, and young persons in care.Support schools to interpret and enact departmental policies, practices, and procedures relating to vulnerable young people to ensure they remain engaged in education.Provide support to schools that will assist in the development and implementation of successful retention and transition strategies and programs that will improve the education outcomes for vulnerable students.Collate confidential information, identifying needs and barriers to formulate the basis for activities required to support the young person's transition to the education or training pathway.Please refer to the attached role description for any mandatory requirements for this position.Interested?
