The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining a safe and compliant work environment, ensuring adherence to Singapore’s EHS regulations and company policies. This role plays a key part in fostering a strong safety culture while supporting the company’s commitment to sustainability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.Responsibilities:Regulatory Compliance & GovernanceEnsure compliance with Singapore Workplace Safety and Health Act (WSHA), Environmental Protection and Management Act (EPMA), Fire Safety Act, and other relevant regulations.Develop and maintain EHS policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety work procedures (SWPs), and risk management frameworks in alignment with the company’s safety and sustainability goals.Serve as the main liaison with regulatory authorities (e.g., MOM, NEA, SCDF & LTA) for permits, audits, and compliance matters.Continuously review and enhance the EHS Management System to meet evolving regulatory and industry standards.Risk Management & Workplace SafetyConduct regular hazard identifications, risk assessments (HIRA), and job safety analyses (JSA) to mitigate workplace risks.Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.Ensure a safe workplace, minimizing environmental impact, and promoting a strong safety culture within the organization.Facilitate WSH Committee meetings to review and improve workplace safety measures.Visit customer sites periodically to review and assess safety requirements.Conduct workplace safety inspections and compliance assessments.Environmental & Sustainability InitiativesTrack and analyze EHS performance metrics, identify trends, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workplace safety and environmental sustainability.Ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous chemicals in compliance with regulations.Monitor and maintain environmental measured records to benchmark against industrial norms or environmental pollution limits.Oversee environmental management programs, ensuring responsible waste disposal, emissions control, and pollution prevention.Support CIFEL’s sustainability efforts by identifying opportunities for energy efficiency, waste reduction, and green initiatives.Training, Engagement & Culture BuildingConduct EHS orientation training for new employees.Organize an Annual Safety Refresher Course for all relevant employees.Administer Hazmat and Fire Drills within the company.Lead EHS training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors to enhance awareness and compliance.Promote a proactive safety culture through campaigns, toolbox meetings, and engagement activities.Lead and mentor the EHS team, providing guidance on best practices and regulatory updates.Attend and improve various daily toolbox meetings.EHS Performance Monitoring & ReportingLead internal EHS audits and support external audits by regulatory bodies.Prepare accident/incident reports and assist in MOM reporting if any.Collect and analyze near-miss statistical data and provide reports to prevent incidents and accidents.Manage and maintain fire detection, alarm, and firefighting systems through contractors or Maintenance Technicians.Analyze safety inspection data to identify root causes of unsafe conditions and practices, implementing corrective measures.Actively involved in Management System (SS 651/14001/BizSafe) internal/external audits and Responsible Care activities.Represent the company at the Singapore Chemical Industry Council (SCIC)/Sakra Island Community Awareness (SICA)/Sakra Owners Roundtable (SORT) and other EHS-relevant meetings and share appropriate updates with company employees.Ensure compliance with flammable and hazardous materials handling, storage, and transportation requirements.Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as chemical engineering, environmental science, or health sciences.Preferred Certified Biz Safe Level 2, Confined Space / WAH Assessor, Supervise Workplace Safety & Health in Process Plant (SWSHPP), etc.At least 5 years of experience in plant or chemical industry.Preferred registered WSHO with MOM and Fire Safety Manager with SCDF, knowledge in process plant safety and Major Hazard Installation (MHI) Safety Case.Ability to work in industrial environments with exposure to noise, chemicals, heat, and humidity, and move around the plant, including climbing stairs and accessing confined spaces.Occasional lifting of materials up to 15-20 kg and the ability to wear and utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE).Good vision and hearing to read safety signs, detect alarms, and communicate effectively in noisy environments.Prior supervisory experience, excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, communication, and mentoring skills, good team player and able to work under pressure.Travel to Myanmar office may be required, depending on the situation and business needs.
