About the Role: In the position of Engineering Manager - Digital, you will be responsible for leading and mentoring a team of engineers that build and run Cbus' member-facing digital channels, including public websites, member portals, mobile apps, and Martech platforms.You will lead the definition and implementation of engineering best practices across the team and broader Technology function, whilst being a champion for modern engineering practices including the adoption of industry-standard technologies, cloud-native solution design, automation, and observability. In your role, you will: Plan, develop and execute short- and long-term plans to help meet the needs of Cbus members, collaborating within technology and the wider business to meet these goals. Review and oversee tooling across the Digital technology stack to ensure they are relevant and align to the strategic target state, whilst looking at improving ways of working and engagement across teams. Identify and co-ordinate the implementation of appropriate development methodologies (TDD/BDD/Continuous integration and refactoring practices), documentation, and tools. To be successful, ideally you will: Have 10+ years of relevant industry experience or demonstrated capability in similar roles, with 4+ years of leadership experience leading engineers within the digital landscape.You will have experience in designing and implementing customer/member-facing web and mobile apps, with experience with RESTful APIs and microservices patterns.It is expected you will have a good understanding of test-driven development, continuous integration, continuous delivery and building high-quality solutions. Our Current Technology Stack: General: All systems managed by the team are either hosted in AWS or via SaaS.We are consolidating on an Azure-based toolchain for our source control and CI/CD orchestration.Currently, our website and portals are based on Adobe Experience Manager which means we use J2EE, Spring boot, Spring, Hibernate and other similar technologies.We are looking to move more towards a JS-based stack, using or in conjunction with, this will mean we move away from Java and towards more lightweight web technologies. Frontend Web Development: We use React, Adobe Experience Manager, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS.We also have iOS and Android apps which use a combination of native screens and web-views.Our Martech stack is primarily based around the Adobe suite - this is an area we want to grow our capability in, so any Martech experience is highly desirable. API Development: We use MuleSoft as our integration and API platform with microservices running in AWS EKS.
