The Board of Back to Back Theatre is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader with a strong track record in executive producing, business development and stakeholder engagement in the arts to shape the future of a globally recognised theatre company.
The Role
Back to Back Theatre is seeking an exceptional Executive Producer / Co-Chief Executive Officer (EP/Co-CEO) to provide strategic leadership, operational oversight, and business development expertise. As EP/Co-CEO, you will lead a high-performing management team, overseeing B2B’s financial, operational, and governance functions. You will also be instrumental in securing funding, developing partnerships, and driving audience engagement across national and international markets. With a strong focus on business strategy, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement, this role is an opportunity to make a profound impact on the future of one of Australia’s most important cultural organisations.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide strategic leadership in collaboration with the Artistic Director / Co-CEO and Board to ensure the company’s long-term success.
* Oversee financial management, governance, and compliance, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
* Drive business development, fundraising, and revenue diversification, including government, philanthropic, and commercial partnerships.
* Lead presenter and audience engagement initiatives and marketing strategies to enhance B2B’s visibility locally and internationally.
* Support the development and delivery of B2B’s diverse artistic and community programs, ensuring impactful and inclusive creative outcomes.
Who We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is a dynamic and strategic leader with a strong track record in executive producing, business development, and stakeholder engagement within the arts. You will bring:
* Proven leadership experience in the performing arts, screen, or creative industries.
* Strong commercial acumen, with expertise in financial management, strategic planning, and revenue growth.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships across government, philanthropic, and corporate sectors.
* A deep understanding of the artistic process and a passion for supporting bold, socially engaged work.
* Experience working in or alongside the disability sector (while not essential, an openness to learning and engaging in inclusive leadership is key).
Applications from candidates with lived experience of a disability and from traditionally marginalised communities are most welcome and encouraged.
This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of a globally recognised theatre company, championing artistic innovation and social impact.
