The purpose of this position is to provide counselling services to children and their families and/or their carers. The practitioner will provide effective, innovative and culturally appropriate therapeutic responses for children referred to the service from a range of sources. What’s in it for you? Provide both onsite and outreach services that are innovative and culturally appropriate therapeutic responses for children who have been affected by Family and Domestic Violence. Facilitate opportunities for whole of family interventions with parents and kinship carers focused on the impact these experiences have on the child. Link children and families from the target group to appropriate support services and networks. Provide opportunities for interventions with parents and family members focused on the impact that has on the child. As part of the Therapeutic Team, participate in the development of protocols and practice for service delivery, including referral and assessment tools. Is this the right role for you? Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Counselling, Psychology or another relevant qualification Demonstrated experience in the delivery of counselling services to children using a whole-of-family approach on issues including complex trauma, grief and loss, and behavioural difficulties. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of trauma-informed practice including theories of child development, trauma and attachment theory Well-developed administrative, verbal, and written communication skills. NT PHN/RWA NT may be able to offer relocation support and clinical educational financial assistance to health professionals who are relocating to the NT or moving within the NT to a greater remoteness area classification for the purposes of employment and further clinical education.
