Aerometrex is seeking a skilled and innovative LiDAR Data Engineer to join our Maroochydore team.In this role, you will optimise data pipelines and workflows to enable scalable and accurate analysis of LiDAR data. Your contributions will focus on automating processes, increasing efficiency, and maintaining exceptional product accuracy and quality. You will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to design and implement advanced geospatial solutions.This position offers the opportunity to shape cutting-edge geospatial workflows and contribute to innovative products in a collaborative and supportive environment.Your key responsibilities include:
Workflow Automation: Develop automation tools to streamline the processing and generation of LiDAR-derived products.
Data Processing & Analysis: Create Python scripts using geospatial libraries such as PDAL and GDAL for handling LiDAR point cloud data, manipulating raster/vector data, and automating complex workflows.
Workflow Design & Testing: Design high-efficiency workflows from raw data to deliverables, ensuring quality, consistency, and optimisation across diverse project settings.
Technical Collaboration: Work with production and software development teams to integrate automated processes, convert manual workflows into algorithms, and deploy scalable solutions in both on-premise and cloud environments.
Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve issues in automation workflows, tool performance, and data quality, proposing innovative solutions.
Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of workflows, algorithms, and best practices for continuous improvement.
Innovation & Continuous Learning: Stay up to date with advancements in LiDAR technology, geospatial data processing, and software development.

We are seeking candidates with:
A bachelor’s degree in Geospatial Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or 5+ years of relevant industry experience).
Proficiency in Python for data engineering, including experience with geospatial libraries like PDAL, GDAL, NumPy, and Pandas.
Knowledge of geospatial concepts, including projections, coordinate systems, and raster/vector data manipulation.
Experience optimising workflows for large datasets and improving the performance of automated systems.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Desirable: Experience with LiDAR data processing, cloud-based geospatial solutions, and tools like Kubernetes or AWS Batch.
