About the Role: Finance Manager
The Finance Manager will play a crucial role in providing effective financial management across the organisation. This includes driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and overseeing dedicated transactional finance teams.
Main Responsibilities:
* Prepare and oversee all statutory, regulatory, and bespoke financial reporting in relation to AAL's statutory and tax reporting requirements and manage associated work with external auditors and advisors.
* Prepare concise Board reports that provide assurance on the integrity of financial frameworks, controls, and overall financial results.
* Research and determine the appropriate accounting and tax treatment for technical issues and prepare associated summarised reporting to the Audit and Compliance Committee.
* Oversee payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and capital expenditure processing and lead continuous improvement initiatives in these areas.
* Work closely with the sustainability team to develop AAL's sustainability reporting in accordance with new standards.
* Maintain and evolve a robust internal control environment, ensuring efficient and effective financial controls that meet AAL's needs. Including contributing to the review financial risk registers and financial maturity models.
* Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, external stakeholders, and business units, providing guidance on financial processes, technical accounting, and tax queries to inform commercial decision-making, drive efficiency, and deliver process improvements.
* Foster relationships with key stakeholders including external banking facilities, auditors, tax advisors, and property valuers.
* Simplify and modernise transactional services.
* Lead, mentor, and develop the team to meet the needs of a continually growing business, shaping cultural and operational improvements that support innovation and build long-term capability.
Requirements:
* Rlevant tertiary and CA/CPA qualifications (mandatory).
* A wealth of experience from a Chartered Accounting or Corporate background working in complex and control-driven environments.
* A track record which demonstrates proven technical accounting expertise inclusive of AASB and tax legislations.
* A proven ability to prepare high-quality written reports for executives and Boards.
* Sound commercial acumen to support well-informed decision making across AAL.
* A curious mindset, keen attention to detail, and the ability to deep dive into complex matters.
* Leadership experience which includes managing, training, and mentoring teams effectively and in a way that contributes to a harmonious team environment.
