Wesley College Melbourne, a school of the Uniting Church, established in 1866, is one of Australia's leading and most respected co-educational independent schools. With an enrolment of 3,400 students from ECLC to Year 12, it comprises three metropolitan campuses in Melbourne, at St Kilda Road, Glen Waverley and Elsternwick, outdoor education sites at Chum Creek, Mallana and Lochend, and a Year 9 residential campus at Clunes.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified Registered Nurses (Division 1) for a permanent part-time (0.35FTE) position based at our Glen Waverley Campus to work Tuesday and Friday from 8.30am to 3.30pm.
The Nurses are part of the pastoral care network for students. The Nurse will act independently within AHPRA guidelines as a Division 1 registered nurse. The Nurse must be proficient in preventative health, Health Assessment and Referral procedures. The Nurse plays a major role in illness prevention and early detection and correction of health problems. The Nurse reports to the College Health Centres Manager.
In making this appointment, the College is seeking applicants who, among other qualities can demonstrate:
1. Provision of primary/tertiary health care to patients appropriate to their needs and the situation.
2. Referring patients to school counsellors, doctors, medical specialists and allied health personnel as appropriate.
3. Liaising with parents/guardians, family, teachers and Heads of School as necessary about the health needs of patients.
4. Administration of medication.
5. Identifying students with significant health issues and develops/implements Care Plans for their management in the school environment.
6. Assisting with the development of strategies to address habitual attendance at the Health Centre by some patients.
7. Managing the Health Centre on-site, including ordering of stock, administration and general maintenance.
To be eligible for this position you must be a Registered Nurse (Div. 1) and be prepared to obtain a Working with Children Check, a National Police Certificate clearance and be able to demonstrate the relevant expertise required for this position. Experience working in a school environment would be highly regarded.
