Mathematics Teacher – Full-time, Ongoing
Mater Dei College has the opportunity for a full-time, ongoing Mathematics Teacher to become an integral part of the College’s Mathematics Team, commencing 1 January 2025.
We are seeking a vibrant, passionate, dedicated and confident individual who is committed to helping our students reach their full potential.
The Mathematics Teacher will be responsible for a variety of tasks within the Mathematics Learning Area inclusive of but not limited to:
• Implementing effective teaching strategies to engage and challenge students of varying abilities to achieve specific learning outcomes.
• Fostering a stimulating, encouraging and inclusive classroom environment designed to support student growth.
• Programming for classes within the Mathematics Learning Area and thoroughly planning for each lesson.
• Assessing the performance of students in accordance with College procedures and where required, maintaining contact with parents regarding the performance and wellbeing of students.
• Meeting the deadlines set by the Head of Learning Area and College Executive.
Selection Criteria
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a high level of professionalism whilst supporting the Catholic ethos and values of the College.
The successful applicant will have the ability to teach Mathematics across all year levels and will also hold a tertiary qualification for Secondary Education, preferably in Mathematics.
Demonstrated experience within the Mathematics Learning Area will be viewed favourably.
Graduate teachers are also encouraged to apply.
Qualifications Required
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, preferably in Mathematics
• Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary) or equivalent
Terms of Employment
• Hold a current registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia
• Hold a current Working with Children Check (WWC)
• Hold, or be working towards completion of, Accreditation to Teach in a Catholic School, Accreditation to Teach Religious Education or Accreditation for Leadership in Catholic Schools
• Annually complete the Child Protection Procedures and Mandatory Reporting Training
Highly Desirable
• Knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum
• An understanding of current educational perspectives
• Experience working with high school students
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively with students, colleagues, parents/guardians and external partners
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong time management and organisational skills
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking abilities
