Salary: $26.50 per hour (gross $29.50 per hour, including superannuation)
Position Type: Full Time - 38 hours, 8.30am to 4.30pm. Some work may be required on weekends or public holidays when we race.

Strathalbyn Racing Club is dedicated to providing a premier racing experience and maintaining a vibrant community atmosphere. We are looking for a motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Track and Maintenance Officer.
Position Overview:
As a Track and Maintenance Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the maintenance and preparation of our racecourse, gardens, and grounds for race meetings. This hands-on position requires attention to detail and a commitment to high standards of safety and quality.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assist the Track Manager in preparing and arranging all aspects of track, gardens, and grounds for race meetings.
2. Maintain infrastructure, machinery, and grounds to the highest standards.
3. Attend to repairs and maintenance of dirt roads, machinery, vehicles, buildings, stables, roofs, gutters, and other structures.
4. Assist with the maintenance and operation of the irrigation system.
5. Maintain and service machinery following all standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Specific Duties:
Track Maintenance:
1. Assist the Track Manager in maintaining the race course proper, B grass, sand, and training tracks.
2. Implement track maintenance activities as required (e.g., aeration, de-thatching, mowing, over-sowing).
3. Conduct weed control as needed.
4. Mow the track as required.
5. Repair the track after race meetings and weekly grass gallops.
6. Fertilize the track in consultation with the Track Manager as per the maintenance program.
7. Ensure all drainage systems are clear and functioning efficiently.
8. Move and maintain the running rail in consultation with the Track Manager as required, ensuring regular maintenance and alignment.
9. Conduct regular maintenance of irrigation pumps and watering systems.
10. Maintain and service tractors and mowers, keeping all machinery in clean working condition.
What We’re Looking For:
1. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality maintenance standards.
2. Experience in groundskeeping or a similar role is preferred.
3. Basic understanding of irrigation systems and machinery operation.
4. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
5. Valid police clearance.
