About the role:This role specifically involves working in clinics focused on early pregnancy advice and options, including pregnancy termination. These clinics currently operate on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and these days are non-negotiable. The third workday is flexible.
You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of midwives and medical staff to support women and their chosen support person in exploring options related to their pregnancy. This work can be sensitive and at times confronting. Your responsibilities will include assisting individuals experiencing bereavement, addressing complex social needs, identifying child protection concerns, and managing unpredictable responses. You will be experienced in working with people facing complex social challenges, mental health issues, and often limited support systems. Strong organisational and prioritisation skills are essential due to the demands of the role.
Where you will be working:In this position you will work as part of the JHH Social Work team covering work in the clinical area of Maternity & Gynaecology. JHH is a very busy tertiary referral Hospital and there are a number of SW teams working as part of the larger Dept covering all clinical areas of the Hospital.
Applicants will be supported within the M&G team by the Team leader and other level 3 clinicians as well as the Service Manager. An individualised professional development plan will be established with the successful applicant. Cultural support is available through cultural mentoring with other Aboriginal staff.
