About the roles
V/Line Conductors have people at the heart of their work and take pride in their positive impact on our customers and communities. As a key member of V/Line’s front line customer service team, the V/Line Conductor is responsible for delivering on-train customer service to V/Line customers and customer safety on board trains.
The Station Staff manage the day-to-day operating facilities and customer services activities at the station. The Station Staff are required to maintain the delivery of service to customers ensuring the provision of best possible train and coach services to V/Line’s passengers.
Duties include:
4. Communicate accurate and timely information to customers, ensuring coach replacements are organised where required and selling tickets to customers.
5. Assist customers with checked luggage and loading onto coaches.
6. Sell and check tickets whilst onboard train and ensure safe departure of train, reporting any faults and delays where appropriate.
7. Maintain the presentation and cleanliness of the station.
8. Undertake ticket sales, seat reservations, maintaining ticket stock and manage daily bank deposits.
9. Assist management with rostering & replacement staff when required.
10. Inform customers of service alternations/disruptions.
Our ideal candidate will possess the following:
11. You have strong safety awareness and demonstrate alignment to V/Line’s values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights.
12. You’re a confident, customer-focused individual, with a background of face-to-face customer service, able to work a rotating roster including weekends, public holidays, early and late shifts and hold a valid driver’s license.
13. You know how to adapt your communication to different customer groups and can handle difficult situations on an autonomous level.
14. You’ve completed secondary school education (minimum year 10), have strong verbal and written communication skills and have the ability to work within rules and compliance frameworks.

Remuneration for this position will be in line with the V/Line Rail Operations and Administrative Employees Agreement 2019 or Asset Management Enterprise Agreement 2019). Current employees are expected to remain in their role for a minimum of 12 months before applying to new positions within V/Line.
