Community Programs and Development OfficerThe St Vincent de Paul Society aspires to be recognised as a caring charity offering "a hand up" to people in need. We do this by respecting their dignity, sharing our hope, and encouraging them to take control of their own destiny.Working as part of our Youth and Communities Team, we are hiring a Community Programs and Development Officer. This role will be based in the Launceston Region and will assist in expanding our footprint to the outer suburbs.The Community Programs and Development Officer will coordinate our volunteer-run services, Kings Meadows Breakfast, Shower and Laundry, and the Vinnies Van. This involves the engagement of volunteers, rostering, inductions, mentoring, and supporting them to ensure effective and reliable delivery of services. In addition, this role will be key in extending our community programs and creating and managing partnerships with other like-minded organisations.Working predominately between 9.30 till 3.30 Monday to Friday, this role offers a great mix between community interaction and office-based administration. Regular travel around the northern region and at times statewide is required in this role, while working outside regular hours may also be required on occasions.Demonstrated experience in the social or community services industry.Experience in developing or managing community or volunteer-led programs would be advantageous.Experience working with cohorts of people that are experiencing hardship.A positive team player with a solutions-focused mindset.Ability to work in partnership with our Members and Volunteers, providing support and training to assist in delivering on the purpose of the Society.Competent with Microsoft applications and willingness to learn new applications and systems.Ability to manage competing deadlines and priorities, thinking ahead and identifying potential issues, while adopting a flexible approach as required.Exceptional customer service and communication skills.Knowledge of and willingness to further learn about social justice issues.Strong commitment to confidentiality and an understanding of privacy principles.Ability to build, foster and manage relationships with key stakeholders and other like-minded organisations.Willingness to assist with event management and/or attending occasions where called on to represent the Society.Motivation to be part of the greater Society Team and collaborate appropriately.Fundamentally, a can-do attitude and commitment to the values of St Vincent de Paul Society in achieving against our purpose.The successful applicant must hold a current compliant National Police Check, along with a valid Working with Vulnerable People Card or the ability to obtain.
