You will be responsible for and have carriage of your own files, with appropriate supervision.The General Insurance team advises on and manages a diverse portfolio of claims for many Australian and international insurers and underwriters, Government departments and public sector entities and self-insured corporations. Our team routinely handles claims that are complex, technically challenging and high profile. Our team in Brisbane is part of our national General Insurance practice - a collaborative, collegiate and high performing team.You will be responsible for:reviewing documents and preparation of evidence;drafting correspondence to the Court and third parties;conference with witnesses and prepare witness statements;preparing briefs for counsel;drafting Court documents and attendance at Court;drafting client advices;drafting letters of instruction to experts;the ability and desire to supervise and mentor junior lawyers.About youYou will ideally have the following skills and experience:at least four years' of post-admission experience in general insurance law (such as recoveries, liability defence, professional indemnity, etc.);strong experience acting in recoveries and property damage liability claims will be highly regarded;clear, concise legal writing skills and outstanding attention to detail;a team player, with a 'can do' attitude, and a strong interest in defendant insurance law.About usHall & Wilcox is a leading Australian law firm, delivering outstanding legal services to corporate, public sector and private clients, both Australian-based and those offshore doing business in Australia.
