An exciting and unique opportunity exists for an enthusiastic Head of Department - Vocational Education and Training to join Vocational Training Queensland (VTQ). VTQ is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) owned by the Department of Education that operates primarily out of Brisbane Youth Education and Training Centre.
The primary purpose of VTQ is to deliver both accredited and non-accredited training to at-risk youth to improve literacy and numeracy skills to increase pathway options across the state.
This is a temporary full-time position for a period of 3 months, unless otherwise determined.

About the Role:
The Head of Department - Vocational Education and Training is responsible for overseeing the organisational matters of Vocational Training Queensland (VTQ) with a strong focus on quality learning outcomes and targeted growth of the RTO in line with VTQ and the Department of Education's strategic objectives. The position has a key role in the continuous improvement of VTQ's performance and contributing to the achievement of the organisation's vision and purpose.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Lead the school department to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focused on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
* Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
* Set high standards for student and staff performance.
* Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
* Form partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups.
* Be futures oriented and strategic.
* Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling especially in relation to students and staff within the school department.
