About the Role
BOQ Group is looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to join our People & Culture team on a 12-month Maximum Term Contract!
This role ensures the delivery of precise and compliant payroll services for BOQ Group employees. Our successful candidate will possess meticulous attention to detail, outstanding analytical abilities, and a comprehensive knowledge of payroll regulations and procedures.
In this role, you will manage and lead the payroll team, overseeing the preparation and processing of fortnightly, monthly, and out-of-cycle payrolls. You will develop and coach the team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, professional development, and upskilling capabilities.
Key responsibilities include:
* Proactively addressing issues, maintaining strict confidentiality regarding payroll matters, and demonstrating excellent organisational skills.
* Manage and reconcile the monthly payment of director’s fees.
* Prepare and analyse payroll reports, providing insights and recommendations to senior leaders and the executive management team.
* Perform regular audits and control testing of payroll processes to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
* Develop, manage and review Payroll controls testing and associated documentation. Implement payroll policies and procedures to ensure efficiency and compliance.
* Analyse and interpret various awards and collective agreements to ensure compliance with pay rates and entitlements consulting with the Employee Relations team as required.
* Ensure various legislative requirements (e.g., taxation, superannuation, workers compensation) as they relate to payroll and are processed in a timely manner to reduce risk to the BOQ Group.
* Manage annual EOFY activities, including reconciliation, reporting, changes to superannuation and compliance with ATO requirements and other legislative changes.
* Coordinate with the Performance and Rewards team, to facilitate the annual fixed salary increase process and manage STI/ LTI variable incentives.
About you

You have previous experience using Chris21, which is essential for this role. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is desirable. Your skills in Excel range from intermediate to advanced, and you possess strong knowledge and experience in end-to-end payroll services. You are well-versed in payroll software and systems.
Your analytical and problem-solving skills are excellent, and you have exceptional attention to detail. You communicate effectively and have strong interpersonal skills. You thrive in high-volume, fast-paced environments and can manage sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
