The Opportunity
KBR’s Defence Business has grown significantly over the past few years following a succession of project wins and new partnerships throughout Australia. To help support this growth and the new leadership forming in Australia, we are looking for an Assistant Design Manager (A/DM) to work on a variety of impressive Defence projects and be mentored and supported by a team of industry specialists within our Defence Infrastructure business.
The Assistant Design Manager (A/DM) role is an exciting opportunity for a junior project/design manager looking to take the next step in their career and to learn from the best in the market to grow their Project Management/Design Management CV. As the role will operate nationally, you will be based anywhere in Australia including Sydney, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra, Brisbane, or Melbourne.
The role will support Project Managers and Design Managers with design management and coordination tasks, delivery control, project audits and overall project quality control. Another element of the role may involve assisting with tender submissions, including drafting technical content and coordinating document production.
Other key responsibilities include;
1. Assist Project Managers & Design Managers with monitoring the project scope, including regular review of design documents and amendment of design documents to meet the client’s project brief, user requirements, budget etc;
2. Plan, coordinate and support the conduct of internal and project workshops and other engagements;
3. Support internal governance requirements for proposals and projects;
4. Assist the team with administrative duties including travel, site visits, client engagements, etc;
Who are you?
The ideal candidate will have 2+ years post-graduate project management/design coordination experience working with/for the Department of Defence. Tertiary qualifications in a related field are also required (project management, construction management, engineering, architecture, business). We are looking for someone who wants to further develop their skills, whilst building a long term career with KBR’s Defence, buildings, nuclear and maritime infrastructure business.
