The Company
My client is a leading Power Engineering company, looking to grow their construction team due to a strong pipeline of projects. Dedicated to shaping the future of energy through cutting-edge power generation solutions. They have an experienced team of experts thriving on engineering excellence, sustainability, and delivering projects that make a real impact. Due to a strong pipeline of projects, they are seeking a skilled Commissioning Engineer to join their dynamic team. Reporting to the Technical Operations Manager, this position will be an integral link between the Engineering and Construction team responsible for the delivery of Projects within the business unit.
The Role
The Commissioning Engineer will act as a liaison between the commissioning and engineering teams, including:
Ensuring seamless transitions from design to execution across EPC projects.
Developing and overseeing commissioning procedures, safety and quality standards, and leading on-site commissioning activities.
Development of commissioning plans, including FAT, SAT, and performance testing.
Managing technical queries, punch lists, and non-conformance reports.
Providing oversight for on-site commissioning, offering technical guidance and troubleshooting.
Collaborating closely with vendors and subcontractors to align with project objectives.
Driving continuous improvement initiatives to streamline workflow efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience
Electrical Engineering Degree, CPEng and/or RPEQ (desirable).
Project Management, SCADA systems, or controls engineering (desirable).
Experience in high-voltage electrical systems, hazardous areas, and power system engineering, understanding of Australian standards.
Strong background in commissioning of power generation facilities, including gas and renewable energy systems, on both synchronous and non-synchronous assets.
Hands-on experience with control systems, relays, protection devices, and SCADA systems.
Commissioning procedures, ITPs, ITRs, and quality assurance documentation.
Experience coordinating FAT, SAT, and systems validation, optimizing timelines.
Problem-Solving and Decision-Making
Strong analytical skills to review complex testing data, assess risks during commissioning. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to liaise with stakeholders, clients, and subcontractors.
Software
MS Office, Pdf Editor (essential) and CCMS (desirable). Drivers License. *Applicants must hold working rights for Australia.
