The Cultural Liaison Officer (Identified) is responsible for supporting the school to develop and implement culturally appropriate, evidence-based strategies to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
This position is integral to the ongoing commitment to deepen a respectful understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and spiritualities in an inclusive, safe environment.
Accountabilities: Assist with the delivery of cultural programs including the use of technology and learning support activities.Support student learning outcomes by providing support and advice on supporting students with diverse cultural needs.Supervise small groups and individual students, as requested, to assist students with diverse cultural needs.Support the Reconciliation Action Plan and the promotion of diversity and equity across the school staff, students, parents and wider community.Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure that appropriate support services meet the unique needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.Assist in the coordination of whole of school Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander specific dates of recognition or celebrations.Work with stakeholders to provide practical assistance and a safe space for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.Assist in the drafting of newsletter articles and updates for the wider school community.Minimum Requirements: Hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement;Be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment;Have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education.Please note applications for this role may be considered as they are received, and an appointment made prior to the advertised close date.
