Position overview As the Statutory Planning Coordinator, you will lead the statutory planning team in its delivery of services to customers in the Shire, facilitate development approvals and pre-application meetings and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the team.
In this role you will: Ensure the service provided by the Statutory Planning Team is undertaken in an efficient and effective manner within set timeframes.
Mentor and assist your team, providing guidance in their role and its responsibilities and ensuring there are structures in place so they can effectively perform their duties.
Maintain a customer service focused culture to achieve the delivery of a quality service and to enhance the positive image of Council.
Prepare detailed reports and project manage complex or significant planning permit applications, including the representation of Council at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.
What we require from you (Key Selection Criteria): Relevant qualification in Town Planning and a minimum of seven years' experience in land use planning.
Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with service users and all other relevant stakeholders.
Demonstrated knowledge of legislation and procedures related to the functions of the Planning and Development Unit.
Ability and capacity to make independent and unassisted decisions.
Ability to work with, assist and mentor other less experienced professionals.
Ability to lead, innovate and adapt to change If successful, you will need to undertake a police check.
You must also be legally entitled to work in Australia.
This is a permanent, full-time opportunity, based in Bairnsdale.
