We are excited to start the recruitment process for our SAS Laboratory Manager in our Trade Partnering team, that forms part of our Customer & Innovation Group.
The Customer and Innovation group leads and champions the way Urban Utilities connects with its customers. Our approach is focused on remaining contemporary, by understanding the current and future needs of our customers and appropriately shaping our services.
Reporting to the Head of Trade Partnering, the SAS Lab Manager leads the business functions of the water laboratory owned and operated by Urban Utilities, made up of a team of applied scientists, technicians and business specialists that provide contemporary scientific and analytical laboratory services to a range of complex customers.
Some of your accountabilities will include: Communicate the actions needed to implement the function's strategy and business plan within the business area or department; explain the relationship to the broader organisation's mission, vision and values.Manage commercial results of a medium business unit by analysing customer and market trends, monitoring financial results, adjusting plans as necessary, and optimising use of resources.Manage relationships with clients and drive a culture of business partnership, building high levels of professional credibility and mutual trust, and mobilizing appropriate internal and/or external resources to support them.Manage budget plans for a department including both annual budget development and ongoing financial performance management.Monitor and review performance and behaviours within area of responsibility to identify and resolve non-compliance with the organization's policies, relevant regulatory codes, standards and assurance frameworks, and codes of conduct.About You We are seeking candidates who are passionate about shaping our future, and ideally have the following qualifications, skills and experiences:
Tertiary education in a relevant scientific discipline or considerable industry experience. Management experience of a medium sized business in a commercial environment is preferred.You are a demonstrated leader with a proven ability to grow and manage teams. You will drive engagement and motivation and develop and mobilise the unique talents and capabilities of others.You are a strategic thinker and can take a long-term commercial perspective and think critically to identify enterprise risk and opportunity in response to changing environments.You are passionate about customer relationships and will take accountability and responsibility for the delivery of uniquely Urban experiences aligned to our values and service experience standards.The role requires close contact with raw wastewater. Immunisation (e.g. Hepatitis A and B, Tetanus) may be required in accordance with Urban Utilities' immunisation policy.
This requires that the employee must be available to be on-call and to attend to work matters, both in person and remotely, outside of normal working hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays, as reasonably required to fulfil the requirements of the position.
