POSITION SUMMARYMeets with current and prospective members to increase Costco Membership sign-ups and sales, maintains renewal capture rates, and develops Gold Star companies. Continually strives to improve Costco’s corporate image as a concerned and active member of the community. Introduces Costco to the community in new market areas and as an active participant in warehouse pre-openings. Makes Business and Gold Star Membership renewal calls. Tracks sales, sign-ups, and incentive programs. Provides prompt and courteous member service. Follows proper safety and security procedures and standards.DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES• Canvases businesses located in the warehouse sales area in person and by phone to promote membership and foster sales. Conducts research to identify best prospects. Calls members to remind them to renew their membership.• Meets with business owners and assesses business needs to determine Costco merchandise that offers benefits to the member. Assists business with merchandising ideas and special orders. Contacts business members about special promotions, new items, and road shows to promote memberships.• Meets with large businesses to discuss employee membership campaigns. Schedules and conducts on-site membership events. Collects funds and keys applications.• Completes daily activity log and tracks sales increases, sign ups, appointments, and calls. Prepares periodic profit and loss statement for business development and membership marketing results. Submits clear mileage records and other expense receipts for reimbursement.• Promotes good community relations by attending and participating in local community events, trade shows, Chamber of Commerce meetings, and local charity events.• Assists Membership/Marketing Manager with formulating and carrying out marketing plan. Creates and tracks membership incentive programs.• Assists members at the membership desk as necessary. Resolves member issues using problem solving skills, tact, and discretion. Maintains Business Promotion board and updates display.• Follows proper Membership and general safety and security procedures and standards.• Assists in other departments of the warehouse as necessary.• Provides prompt and courteous service to members, employees, and suppliers.
