Power and Water Corporation is a Northern Territory Government (NTG) owned utility that operates across a geographic area of 1.3 million square kilometres and within a range of diverse environmental conditions, ranging from the arid dry of the central desert to the tropical monsoon of the top end. The corporation generates, transmits and distributes electricity, supplies water and wastewater treatment services across the Northern Territory (NT) for the benefit of residents, including remote and isolated Aboriginal communities and outstations.
Position: Manager Financial Accounting
The Manager Financial Accounting will provide expert technical and strategic advice, including tax planning and compliance as well as ensuring external reporting obligations meet all legislation and regulatory requirements, including the preparation of the Annual Financial Reports for the Corporation and its subsidiaries and other external reporting obligations. The role reports to the Senior Manager Corporate Finance and has seven direct reports.
Key Responsibilities: Provide expert advice on the interpretation of, and compliance with, Australian and International Accounting Standards and taxation legislation.Prepare complex financial statements and manage external reporting obligations.Lead and mentor a team of finance professionals.Qualifications: The successful candidate will need significant demonstrated experience in commercial accounting in a complex commercial environment including auditing, consolidations, reconciliations and the preparation of complex financial statements. Relevant experience in a utility or similar environment, along with postgraduate qualifications in a related discipline complemented by Chartered Accountant or Certified Practicing Accountant membership is highly desired.
Operating in a dynamic environment, the successful candidate will possess exceptional interpersonal skills, negotiation and mediation skills and is able to collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders. Proven skills in leading successful teams and building a culture of engagement, continuous improvement and high performance is also necessary.
