About the Opportunity
We are looking for an energetic and highly motivated Venue General Manager to lead the successful management of our venues in Northern Tasmania.
The General Manager will be responsible for ensuring high-quality customer experiences, assisting with the attraction of events, and maximising stadium occupancy and financial returns.
Major Duties
1. Provide strong and effective leadership to our staff, promoting and shaping a venue culture consistent with our values.
2. Contribute to the overall success of our portfolio through strategic leadership and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
3. Initiate and grow community connections with our venue through local partnerships and event planning.
4. End-to-end management of contracts associated with our venues, including operating agreements, leases, and contracts with major users and service providers.
5. Develop new business opportunities in sport and entertainment suitable to our venues.
6. Lead the implementation of our WHS and Security frameworks and develop a WHS and security culture at the venue.
7. Manage organisational, administrative, and operational functions and systems to ensure the successful delivery of major events.
8. Develop venue budgets and capital works and maintenance programs for Board approval.
9. Manage the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and guidelines.
10. Develop and present complex executive reports and briefings to stakeholders.
11. Ensure all work is undertaken in accordance with our policies and procedures.
12. Undertake special project tasks at the discretion of the Executive Team.

The role requires someone who is both strategic and hands-on, with excellent communication skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
Essential
13. High level or demonstrated experience in Venue Management, including operations and events at a large or multi-purpose venue.
14. Exceptional people leadership and management capabilities.
15. Detailed understanding of major event delivery, including staffing, traffic management, ticketing, security, cleaning, broadcast, venue presentation, crowd management, and customer experience.
16. Strong stakeholder relationship skills and high-level experience in achieving customer service outcomes.
17. Excellent communication skills, particularly oral, written, presentation, and influencing skills.
18. High level of demonstrated experience in delivering financial information and reports.
19. Experience negotiating commercial contracts of significant value.
20. Action orientated, adaptable, and innovative approach to business planning and execution.
21. Ability to set priorities, plan work programs, meet deadlines, and manage time effectively.
22. Risk mitigation/management mindset and ability to identify and act on mitigation strategies.
23. Ability to apply portfolio-wide thinking and decision-making.
24. Highly goal-orientated with a strong focus on delivery, structure, organisation, and inclusiveness.

Desirable
27. Broad understanding of the Tasmanian and Australian sports and major events landscape.
28. Experience presenting to Boards and senior leaders and succinctly communicating issues.
Qualifications and Experience
29. Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. Business, Commerce, Management) or equivalent experience.
30. Minimum 8-10 years' experience in Venue management or operations at a senior level.
31. Current Chief Warden certificate.
32. Current Tasmania driver's licence.
33. Satisfactory Working with Vulnerable People Card.
34. Satisfactory Police Check.
