The Opportunity: The Quality Assurance (QA) and Testing Practice Manager is a pivotal leadership role responsible for establishing and managing the overall QA and testing strategy within the organisation ensuring the capability has been established to delivery upon it.
This position involves developing a robust QA practice that aligns with business objectives ensuring that all software products meet the highest quality standards throughout their lifecycle.
The Practice Manager will lead a team of QA professionals driving innovation and best practices in testing methodologies tools and processes.
In this role the manager will focus on creating a comprehensive quality assurance framework that encompasses both manual and automated testing approaches.
They will collaborate closely with software development teams product managers and stakeholders to define quality benchmarks implement testing strategies and ensure effective communication regarding project timelines and quality expectations.
The Practice Manager will also be responsible for mentoring and developing QA staff fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement with the team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead mentor and develop a team of QA professionals fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
* Conduct performance reviews provide feedback and identify training opportunities for team members.
* Develop and implement a comprehensive QA and testing strategy that aligns with organisational goals.
* Establish quality benchmarks and metrics to assess the effectiveness of testing efforts.
* Create and maintain a robust testing framework that incorporates both manual and automated testing processes.
* Plan the approach to testing for projects as well as Business As Usual (BAU).
* Provide training and guidance to the business users and act as a liaison between business stakeholders and the development team for User Acceptance testing.
* Ensure the adoption of industry best practices in testing methodologies including risk-based testing and regression testing.
* Oversee the implementation and integration of TOSCA as the primary automation tool within the QA practice.
* Provide governance or review (in some cases develop) automated test scripts using TOSCA ensuring they are efficient maintainable and reusable.
* Collaborate with development teams to identify automation opportunities and define automation scope.
* Create comprehensive test plans that outline testing objectives scope resources and timelines.
* Lead test execution efforts ensuring thorough testing of software products including functional performance and security testing.
* Work closely with cross-functional teams (development product management and business stakeholders) to ensure alignment on quality expectations and deliverables.
* Communicate testing progress quality metrics and defect status to stakeholders and senior management regularly.
* Continuously assess and enhance QA processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
* Stay updated on industry trends tools and technologies to drive innovation within the QA practice.
* Identify potential quality risks early in the development process and propose mitigation strategies.
* Maintain clear documentation of testing processes results and lessons learned.
* Provide regular reports on quality assurance activities including defect density test coverage and overall product quality.
* Advocate customer needs and quality in all phases of the software development lifecycle.
* Ensure that final products meet or exceed customer expectations and requirements.
What We Are Looking For:
A strong background in software quality assurance with a proven track record of managing QA practices in dynamic environments particularly in Agile methodologies.
Exceptional leadership communication and analytical skills are essential along with a commitment to leveraging industry best practice and emerging technologies to enhance the QA process.
