What we are looking for: We are seeking a skilled Plumber/Drainer to deliver high-quality plumbing services for Water and Waste Services. You’ll install and maintain water infrastructure, including pipes, meters, and house connections. The ideal candidate has experience in water construction and maintenance, strong communication and customer service skills, a safety-first mindset, and the ability to work both independently and in a team. You should be motivated, adaptable, and possess sound decision-making, problem-solving skills, and computer literacy. What your day will look like: Installing and maintaining water infrastructure, including pipes, meters, and house service connections. Responding to emergency plumbing issues while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation. Guiding and training apprentices, trainees, and team members. Maintaining and repairing water mains, valves, hydrants, and other assets. Assisting in the construction and installation of new water and wastewater assets. Completing documentation such as job sheets, timesheets, and risk assessments. Providing excellent customer service while representing Fraser Coast Regional Council professionally. What you’ll need for success: Qualified and licensed Plumber/Drainer with relevant industry experience (refer to competency framework) Construction Induction Training (White Card) Occupational/Open Plumber/Drainer licence MR Licence or above (or willingness to obtain within 3 months of appointment) Current Hepatitis A, B, and Tetanus immunisations (or ability to acquire) Strong understanding of plumbing standards and compliance with the Plumbing and Drainage Act 2018 Ability to work effectively in a team and provide guidance to apprentices and trainees Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to respond to emergency situations Good organisational skills to plan and prioritise tasks What’s nice to have: Additional qualifications or training related to water and wastewater asset management.
