About the Role:
As a Lead Draftsperson, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality designs and drawings for our product lines. You’ll be responsible for identifying product improvements, supporting innovative product development, and ensuring compliance with internal quality and safety systems. You will collaborate closely with engineers, sales, and operations to create solutions that meet customer needs while maintaining design consistency and efficiency across projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Contribute to a safety-focused engineering team, ensuring design and drafting processes align with business standards.
* Develop and maintain parametric configuration models and PLM architecture to streamline design processes.
* Approve and review drawings, escalating to engineers as necessary.
* Standardise components to minimise variation, and provide technical guidance to ensure consistent execution of client requirements.
* Create 3D models and sales/manufacturing drawings for projects, ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
* Mentor and train junior staff on product range, design tools, and drafting standards.
* Drive innovation through design and drafting, with a focus on “Design for Manufacture” principles.
* Support product development through peer-review processes, drawing package collation, and revision management.
About You: You are an experienced and detail-oriented professional with a proven track record in drafting for industrial environments. Your ability to manage complex designs, provide strategic guidance, and mentor junior staff will be key to your success in this role.
Requirements:
* Engineering degree/diploma or related discipline.
* 10+ years of drafting experience in industrial environments.
* 5+ years as a Senior or Lead Draftsperson is highly desirable.
* Experience in engineering design within complex environments, with knowledge of standards like AS4100/AS3990/AS1170.
* Proficiency in Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar parametric 3D design software.
* Strong communication, conflict management, and leadership skills
