The Opportunity
This fixed-term contract opportunity is reporting to the Financial Controller and requires a skilled Financial Accountant to undertake various accounting and reporting activities.
You will be responsible for ensuring the effective operation of allocated business units or projects by providing accurate and timely financial information and analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintenance of General Ledger and sub-ledger for allocated business units.
* Ensure Fixed Asset register is maintained including timely capitalisations and disposals, and appropriate depreciation methods are applied.
* Working with Operations to deliver monthly reports (Management and Capex) and financial information that is accurate, timely, and provides insightful analysis.
* Collaboration with the Commercial Team to ensure project finances align with commercial expectations.
* Preparation of monthly management accounts including income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, and budget variance analysis with general/operations managers.
* Development and maintenance of Business Intelligence tools/dashboards and data analytics.
* Analyzing and understanding the financial and operational drivers of results.
* Preparation of budgets and periodic rolling forecasts as required.
* Preparation of audit work papers and liaison with auditors to address their queries during half-yearly and full-year audits, as well as other ad hoc audits.
* Compliance with monthly reporting timetables.
* Assisting general/operational managers to cost and budget new and existing operational projects, contracts, and opportunities.
Requirements
* Tertiary degree in Accounting.
* Completed or working towards CA/CPA certification.
* Experience in a range of accounting activities, including general accounting, financial analysis, audit, and management reporting.
* High-level competency in Microsoft Office, including Excel.
* Experience working in operational finance in mining or contracting services (preferable).
* Strong relationship-building, influencing, and negotiating skills.
