The Digital Experience (DEX) section delivers high quality digital services for the Home Affairs Portfolio. We specialise in user experience services and mobile app development and follow a collaborative and Agile delivery approach. We support the delivery of new projects, programs of work and business as usual sustainment activities to ensure the Government's digital transformation priorities are met.

Our ideal candidate
We are looking for an experienced UX designer who is passionate about putting people at the heart of design. You are someone who believes in the strength of good relationships and collaboration to create engaging and inclusive digital experiences. You have strong problem-solving skills, self-direction and are an innovative thinker. You can confidently justify design decisions based on your deep understanding of human-centred design. As an integral team member, you use your expertise and experience to lead the team's deliverables and grow its capability.
Duties and responsibilities
1. Lead the UI/UX design for digital solutions in an Agile environment. Includes the creation of wireframes, mock ups and interactive prototypes based on user research and insights
2. Collaborate with business stakeholders, users, subject matter experts and technical teams to create exceptional user experiences
3. Facilitate usability evaluations to ensure designs are simple, intuitive and accessible
4. Coach and mentor junior UX designers and help uplift the team's capability.

Mandatory
5. Proven experience in leading UI/UX design for digital products and services, with a portfolio of highly usable and inclusive designs
6. Proven experience developing design systems using Figma, employing atomic design principles for reusable components that ensure consistency across digital products
7. Demonstrated proficiency using Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud, to create wireframes, high-fidelity mock ups and interactive prototypes for web and mobile applications
8. Proficiency in leading collaborative design workshops to generate innovative solutions and align cross-functional teams
9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate design concepts and recommendations and influence a wide range of audiences
10. Highly developed collaborative leadership skills and ability to mentor junior UX designers
11. Accessibility and Inclusive Design Knowledge, experience working with WCAG 2.2.
Desirable
12. Ability to conduct user research through qualitative and quantitative research such as interviews, surveys, and usability testing to gather valuable insights
13. Knowledge and experience in working with the Digital Service Standard
14. Experience working in an Agile delivery framework, participating in Agile ceremonies, and adapting to changing project needs
15. Experience using HTML, CSS and the browser inspect tool to review developed web applications
16. Experience working in complex or large-scale digital transformation programs
17. Knowledge of the Department's operating environment, processes and business systems.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance and an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
