Boral Cement are actively seeking a proactive & people focused Refractories Engineer to oversee major shutdown and day-to-day refractory planning and execution. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the refractory installations within the Cement Division, specifically focusing on safety, environment, quality control and financial aspects. You will play a key role in partnering with our internal stakeholders and contractors to drive meaningful relationships. Your well-developed commercial acumen will see to your success in identifying areas of cost efficiency, growth and process improvements. Candidates must be prepared to travel to other sites on occasion including Marulan and Malden.
Your day will involve:
* Design and estimate refractory related applications including bricks and castables
* Manage budgets and conduct preplanning activities including coordinating contractors for shutdowns
* Procure refractory parts according to delivery schedule requirements for major shutdowns
* Material selection and design, establishing final refractory design utilising computer-assisted drafting (CAD) systems
* Conduct thorough inspections of refractory systems, analyse failures and identify areas in need of repair or replacement
* Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance plans to prolong the lifespan of refractory materials
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate the installation of new refractory systems, ensuring new installations and repairs are monitored and controlled
* Analyse data and generate detailed reports on the performance and condition of refractory systems.
What are we looking for?
* Technical background and experience with refractory systems
* Trade or Engineering qualifications – mechanical/chemical/ refractory/industrial
* Strong IT skill set including proficiency with MS Project, Excel, Word and AutoCAD Mechanical skills
* Industrial, Power, Petrochemical, steel, cement, lime, non-ferrous metals, glass, foundry, iron/steel making, chemical or refinery background.
