Job Category: Child, Youth and Family Services Job Description Kalwun Development Corporation Ltd is an Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander community controlled organisation currently seeking to fill the following vacancy within our Child, Youth and Family Support Services division. The Kalwun Child, Youth and Family Support Services division administers the Family Wellbeing Service, Family Participation Program, Early Learning Program and the Kinship and Foster Care programs within the South East Qld region. * This is an identified position, applicants must be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person * About the RoleAs the successful candidate your role will be to work as part of a team of professionals within the Family Wellbeing program, specifically working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families to prevent any likelihood of a child entering or re-entering the child protection system. The aim of the Family Wellbeing program is to strengthen cohesion and the capacity of individuals and their families to raise healthy children to achieve their full potential and to support children and families at a heightened risk of becoming vulnerable, or provide intensive support to children and families under the child protection system, including reunification. Position Duties Assist with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families, where required with an emphasis on healing and promoting stronger attachments. Ensure delivery of support and coordination services are consistent with the developed and agreed Family Care Plan including supporting and assisting clients with attending health and non-health appointments. Provide high quality therapeutic casework services (including information, referral and advocacy services). Provide practical services and supports to build knowledge, strength and capacity of individuals and their families to provide the necessary environment for children to achieve their full potential. Support the FLD Model (Family Led Decision Making) and demonstrate a commitment to integrated service provision. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team. Minimum Diploma relevant to the human services industry. Knowledge and experience with a range of relevant intervention strategies and frameworks and skills. Ability to network and establish sound working relationships with related services, especially other community agencies and Government Departments. Possess demonstrated experience in undertaking assessments that identify needs, strengths and risks in families and developing interventions to address child and family safety, wellbeing concerns and strengthen parenting skills. A high level of communication skills including oral, written and computer based including spreadsheets, email, internet, digital media etc. Experience working in a child protection type service. A Blue Card for working with children is a mandatory requirement. The 'No Card No Start' law applies to this position - a Blue Card must be obtained prior to commencement.
