As our business continues to grow, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Accountant to join our dynamic team and contribute to our expansion plans.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Record day-to-day financial transactions and maintain accurate financial records.
2. Initiate and lead the income invoicing process, ensuring alignment with accounting standards.
3. Support in preparing budgets and accounting documentation.
4. Resolve financial problems raised by clients, suppliers, internal staff, and the central finance team.
5. Perform month-end activities accurately and on time, including raising end-of-month journals.
6. Provide financial advice to the Director/Head of Business Operations regarding business expansion, budgeting, and liaise with financial consultants to plan and manage investment risks.
7. Prepare and file quarterly Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Goods and Services Tax (GST) reports as per Australian Taxation Office (ATO) requirements.
8. Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and maintain the fixed asset register.
9. Audit and maintain records in the accounting software.
10. Contribute to maintaining and improving financial operational systems and internal control systems.
11. Troubleshoot, investigate, and resolve financial inquiries.
12. Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and tax lawyers to prepare financial statements, manage tax lodgement, and meet annual financial milestones.
Niche Skills and Requirements:
1. Experience with Indian Food Production Processes: Understanding of the cost structures, supply chain logistics, and unique production processes involved in manufacturing Indian savouries and snacks.
2. Knowledge of Ingredients and Spices: Awareness of the variety, cost, and sourcing of traditional Indian ingredients and spices, essential for accurate inventory management and cost control.
3. Cultural Sensitivity and Language Skills: Proficiency in Hindi, Gujarati and English to effectively communicate with suppliers, stakeholders, and team members.
4. Experience in Import/Export Compliance: Understanding of regulations and documentation related to the import of raw materials and export of finished goods, particularly within the Indian food product sector.
5. Expertise in Managing Food Safety and Quality Costs: Ability to account for costs associated with food safety standards, quality control, and regulatory compliance specific to the food industry.
6. Supplier and Vendor Management: Experience working with local and international suppliers, especially those specializing in Indian ingredients, to maintain cost efficiency and ensure quality.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Minimum 3 years of experience as an Accountant in a food production or manufacturing environment.
2. Master’s degree in Accounting, Commerce and Business.
3. Sound knowledge and understanding of Australian tax legislation and other regulations.
4. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
5. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
6. Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
7. Strong communication skills and ability to adapt.
