MARS Recruitment is proud to partner with a global financial services organisation in the search for an accomplished and technically proficient Director of Financial Reporting. This position is offered as a 12-month fixed-term contract. The successful candidate will bring extensive expertise in statutory reporting, regulatory compliance, and technical accounting within the financial services sector. Advanced knowledge of US GAAP and AIFRS is required to meeting the external reporting requirements. This role also encompasses significant involvement in finance projects, including tax compliance, preparation of board papers, and drafting technical accounting papers.
Candidates must demonstrate proven experience managing a small team, exceptional technical accounting skills, and a strong background in the financial services industry. In addition to a competitive remuneration package, this opportunity includes a performance and completion bonus.
Responsibilities:
1. Prepare and deliver financial information for statutory and regulatory reporting, ensuring compliance with AIFRS, USGAAP and LAGIC.
2. Oversee key finance functions, including the financial statement close process, tax compliance, and submissions such as transfer pricing, FBT and corporate income tax returns.
3. Lead the implementation of new accounting and regulatory standards, ensuring smooth project execution.
4. Maintain accuracy, transparency, and compliance with all applicable accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
5. Identify and address financial risks while leveraging opportunities through proactive strategies.

Criteria:
8. CA, CPA, or ACCA qualification required
9. 10+ years of experience in financial services
10. Insurance experience highly regarded
11. Proven expertise in technical accounting
12. Strong knowledge of IFRS, USGAAP, APRA prudential regulations, and Australian taxation
13. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated leadership abilities
14. A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
