Employment Location: Kowanyama (subsidised housing provided) – FIFO is not available.
Status: Full Time, Maximum Term Contract (2 years)
Kowanyama Aboriginal Shire is administered by the Kowanyama Aboriginal Shire Council in accordance with the Local Government Act 2009. Council has an elected Mayor and Councillors who work closely with an Executive Team to deliver services to the Community.

About the role:
This role aims to provide quality services that meet the unique needs of the Kowanyama community through strategic planning, collaboration, and effective management, while adhering to regulations and fostering continuous improvement. The Community Services and Events Manager leads and manages diverse community services, in particular:
Women's Group Animal Management Radio Services Australia Remote Agent Site Community Services related events Qualifications and experience:
Relevant qualifications in community services, social work, management, or related fields or significant experience in a similar role Proven ability to manage and lead teams in different services Demonstrated experience of aligning service delivery strategies with organisational goals and corporate plans, resulting in effective and impactful outcomes Previous experience with planning and producing small to medium scale events. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to liaise and negotiate with a wide range of people at all levels. Proven capability identifying and managing grants, ensuring compliance and resource effectiveness Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Indigenous people. Experience working and living in remote areas and/or aboriginal communities is highly regarded National Police Check Current Queensland Manual Drivers Licence Working with Children Blue Card Our region:
Located in Western Cape York, Kowanyama Aboriginal Shire consists of beautiful and unique wetlands and delta mangroves in the north, extending to forest country in the central peninsula. Kowanyama is a remote Aboriginal community and home to over one thousand residents. Kowanyama means "place of many waters" in the Yir Yoront language.
