The Department of Respiratory Sleep Medicine and Ventilation is a large and complex unit operating within Southern Adelaide Local Health Network, with approximately 75 staff members. It provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services, including medical, nursing, and allied health clinics, and is the leading provider of non-invasive ventilation services and pulmonary rehabilitation in South Australia. The Department also offers extensive procedural, diagnostic, and respiratory function services, plays a significant role in medical education, and is actively engaged in research. About the role: Reporting to the Director, Respiratory Sleep Medicine and Ventilation and the Clinical Director, Respiratory Function Laboratories, some of your duties as a Principal Respiratory Scientist may involve: Ensuring the provision of a high quality, timely, cost effective and customer-focussed diagnostic lung function testing service within SALHN. Assuming managerial responsibilities for a small, dedicated work unit demonstrating significant skills including work prioritisation, monitoring productivity, and setting local strategic directions within the area of professional practice. Utilising high level analytical skills to provide information to support strategic decision making. Maintaining a high standard of professional practice and an up-to-date knowledge of respiratory and cardiopulmonary technology. About you: A Bachelor of Science or equivalent. Experience in a laboratory environment. Proven experience in basic computing skills, including email and word processing. Experience in physiological measurement, particularly around lung function or respiratory physiology. Professionally independent, innovative, and competent.
