About the Opportunity
The Newcastle team have a strong track record delivering high quality projects across ecology, planning, heritage, bushfire, NRM, GIS, and mine closure services. This well-respected team of 20 scientists has a strong teamwork ethic and a collaborative approach to achieving success.
We work across multiple long-standing clients across New South Wales. You will join a team who have built client relationships from delivering quality scientific work within sectors such as resources, energy, infrastructure, and government (Local, State and Federal).
For you to be successful in this role, we are looking for someone who is motivated, approachable, a go-getter, have a strong sense of care for your teams, is client oriented, can solve complex problems and work well with staff across the country. You will have a desire to guide your team and use their technical and professional skills to deliver creative and innovative outcomes for our clients and the environment.
On a national level within the company, you will play your own unique part in helping us fulfil our company's vision of 'Leading with science, to inform critical environmental decisions, and deliver positive solutions'.
About you

ELA's Operations Managers practice and deliver projects within their area of technical expertise in addition to the operational management of their office.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
1. Tertiary qualifications relevant to the technical services provided by the Newcastle team.
2. At least 7 years' relevant industry experience.
3. Experience preparing a range of high-quality reports.
4. Working knowledge of NSW and Commonwealth environmental legislation.
5. Strong project and budget management skills.
6. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
7. Experience working with or for clients in the renewable energy sector (highly regarded). This will facilitate the opportunity for you to work within ELA's National Renewable Energy group.
8. Skills transferable to the core services and disciplines relevant to ELA's Newcastle office (ecology, environmental approvals, heritage, bushfire, NRM, GIS, and mine closure).
9. An aptitude for kind, positive leadership of a successful, cohesive and growing team.
10. An interest in supporting others in their personal and professional development.
11. Networks and positive client relationships that you can maintain, or build in NSW.
12. An ability to win work, and deliver projects to the standard expected by our clients.
13. Be an active professional with extensive peer and client networks .

15. Current driver's licence.
