Job Description
The Financial Accountant role is an exciting opportunity to be a key player in managing the accounting and financial activities of a business unit within the Pathology division.
Main Responsibilities
* Owning the end of month procedures of the respective division.
* SUPPORTING FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING TEAM WITH MONTH END ACTIVITIES.
* Becoming the internal SME in relation to a group level accounting function/process.
* Assisting with the audit process, liaising with external auditors and other external advisors where required.
* Working with other internal stakeholders to establish clear, well-documented and collaborative processes as it pertains to month end journals and financial reporting.
* Developing into an in-house SME for a particular function as it pertains to associated elements for financial reporting & control.
* Assisting in the annual budgeting & monthly forecasting of the business unit.
* Participating in related systems, process or internal change initiatives and process improvements.
* Reviewing financial processes and identifying improvements in their efficiency and effectiveness.
* Building effective working relationships with BU stakeholders – both Finance and non-Finance.
Requirements
The successful candidate will be someone who is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
* Tertiary qualification in Accounting.
* At least two years of post-qualification experience.
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Strong MS Excel skills; exposure to Power Query is ideal.
* Ability to work autonomously and as part of a wider team.
* Ability to work within strict deadlines and reporting timetables.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Able to show initiative and be a self-starter.
