Employment Type : Visiting Medical Officer Position Classification : Visiting Medical Officer Requisition ID : REQ532015 Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking an experienced Visiting Medical Officer to join our team at RPA Virtual Hospital We are looking for Visiting Medical Officers in our Virtual Urgent Care Service. RPA Virtual Hospital is Australia’s first Virtual Hospital and provides a personalised service for people in the community – a new way of caring. The RPA Virtual Hospital is able to connect with patients and their carers 24 hours a day, seven days a week, by utilising technology to build on the legacy of expert staff, providing excellent patient and family centered care in the community. The RPA Virtual Hospital Urgent Care Service launched in 2022 as a new program to provide pre-hospital virtual care to patients in the community as an alternative to presenting to an Emergency Department. This service provides support to a range of clinicians and patient groups via a range of referral pathways to better integrate care in the community. Under the NSW Health Single Front Door framework, Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) and RPA Virtual Hospital in collaboration with the Ministry of Health Connected Care Branch is implementing virtualADULTS. VirtualADULTS is a statewide virtual care program to be delivered in collaboration with HealthDirect which will provide alternative pathways to care for patients with urgent care clinical conditions who would otherwise present to an Emergence Department. The primary purpose of the role of the Visiting Medical Officer in the RPA Virtual Hospital Urgent Care and virtualADULTS Service is to work with the Clinical Director, service clinical leads, nursing and allied health staff to provide high-quality, safe virtual clinical care. The Visiting Medical Officer will ensure a high standard of professional performance and encouragement of an academic environment which supports education, research, professional and service development. The successful applicant will be registered or eligible for specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and Fellowship of the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (FACEM) with recognised qualifications in Emergency Medicine and/or other equivalent specialist recognition.
