Overview
Our client, a leading global insurer is experiencing significant growth and is seeking a talented Risk Analyst to join their Line 2 team in Sydney. This is a unique opportunity to play a vital role in supporting the Line 2 function, where you will help identify, assess, and mitigate inherent, residual, and emerging risks using your expertise in quantitative analysis to enhance qualitative insights.
As part of the second line of defence, you’ll be instrumental in monitoring and managing financial risks. You’ll provide critical analysis and insights to senior leadership to challenge both current and emerging risks. Key Responsibilities
1. Oversee the ongoing quantitative evaluation, assessment, and analysis of the organisation's financial soundness.
2. Take charge of delivering technical evaluations that support the senior leadership team in providing thorough second-line oversight and assurance of financial risks.
3. Lead the delivery of timely, insightful, and relevant updates on critical and emerging risks.
4. Offer specialised knowledge to complement and enhance the qualitative functions of the risk team, ensuring a comprehensive view of all risk factors.
5. Develop and maintain financial risk models and analytical tools to evaluate potential exposures, quantify risks, and measure their impacts.
6. Promote and contribute to cultivating a strong risk-aware culture throughout the organisation.
7. Assist with risk reporting processes and the resolution of identified issues.
8. Coordinate and oversee the timely preparation and submission of regulatory filings.
Desired Experience
1. 3–5 years of Financial Risk Management experience.
2. Strong Quantitative skills, with a background in Finance, Actuarial work, Analytics, Data science, Statistics or Underwriting.
3. Expertise in analysing financial data, building risk models, and generating valuable insights from both quantitative and qualitative evaluations.
4. Previous experience in Insurance preferred.
5. Banking backgrounds considered (strong knowledge of prudential standards) or relevant consulting experience.
6. High attention to detail, adaptable, highly motivated with good communication skills.
