Northrop Grumman's Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a Staff Analysis/Architect Engineer - Hydraulics with well-established experience in aircraft hydraulic subsystems development to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in defining the future. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL. This position is fully onsite with no remote work available.Key responsibilities may include: Performing responsible engineer activities, which include all aspects of hydraulic system/component design and development including trade studies, layouts, architecture definition, system test & verification, and troubleshooting.Participating on a subcontractor management team and acting as the technical point of contact with suppliers for hardware development, qualification, and procurement.Performing system related analysis, such as performance simulation, in support of the development of the hydraulic subsystem including integration with other aircraft subsystems.System level test planning, execution support, verification, data processing, and troubleshooting.System level evaluations to verify requirements and ensure airworthiness criteria are met.Attending internal program, customer, and/or supplier technical exchange meetings and/or formal program milestone reviews to provide and/or obtain progress status updates.Basic Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in a related STEM discipline and 12 years of relevant experience; OR MS in a related STEM discipline and 10 years of relevant experienceMust have professional experience related to the development and integration of hydraulic systems in either commercial or military aircraft applicationsMust have ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to the commencement of employmentPreferred Qualifications: Active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)Master's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering with focus on thermodynamic, fluid mechanic and/or heat transfer disciplinesExperience with aircraft subsystem development, with requirements definition, specification development, component analysis, procurement, source selection, integration and test and verification for advanced aircraft.Experience performing thermodynamic, fluid mechanic and/or heat transfer analysis related to military/commercial aircraft and subsystemsExperience modeling fluid systems utilizing Amesim, MATLAB/Simulink, Thermal Desktop, Flomaster, and/or STAR-CCM+ softwareExperience with the military airworthiness certification process using MIL-HDBK-516Experience interpreting component detail drawings, specifications, installation drawings, and test proceduresExperience in supporting pursuits and proposals, including generating, reviewing, and approving technical proposals and BOEsDemonstrated experience in leadership related to integrated product teams, including supplier and customer (internal and external) relationsWe work a 9/80 schedule, which gives you every other Friday off to pursue interests outside of work. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
