This position is locally known as ‘Principal Research Data Analyst’ and is based within the Australian Centre of Excellence in Melanoma Imaging and Diagnosis, currently collecting imaging, clinical, survey and genetic data from 15,000 participants. In this role, you will provide advanced project coordination and technical expertise in data storage, extraction, cleaning, management, and analysis, contributing to the successful execution of complex research projects. Your expertise will help shape innovative digital health solutions, manage large data infrastructure, and collaborate with clinical and research teams to ensure high-quality outcomes.Key Responsibilities Data Management & Research Optimisation: Provide high-level expertise on data management techniques, develop new tools, and enhance existing ones to optimise research outcomes. Advanced Data Cleaning and Analysis: Clean,engineer, prototype, and deploy statistical and machine learning models using Python and/or R to solve complex problems; maintain and review data analysis codebases. Significant experience in research data cleaning, preprocessing, normalisation, and structuring large, complex datasets. A technical background with knowledge of the data processing lifecycle including data modelling, architecture, pipeline and storage. Proven ability to manage or contribute to research projects, from planning through to completion. Advanced technical capabilities in programming languages such as Python, R, or similar. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to produce clear, succinct research documentation and the ability to work with multidisciplinary teams (e.g., AI scientists, clinicians, data engineers, and administrators) to meet project milestones and objectives.
