About the Role
As a Senior Environmental Planner, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our clients by delivering comprehensive environmental planning approvals and environmental impact assessments primarily within Victoria. Your expertise will be crucial in advancing projects across various sectors, with a primary focus on renewable energy and infrastructure. Working with the Melbourne and national approvals team, you would enjoy a mix of project management and technical application (planning and EIA) for a range of approvals projects, with technical mentorship available to you and the ability for you to develop others in the team. This role focuses on complex and multi-dimensional environmental assessments and planning approvals, including Environment Effects Statements (EESs), Environment Reports, Ministerial planning permits, and planning scheme amendments. Umwelt provides opportunities to develop beyond technical skills, with business development and operational team management options available to enhance the role.
Key Responsibilities:
o Project Management: Scope, plan, manage, and execute environmental assessment and environmental planning projects, ensuring integrated outcomes and high-quality delivery
o Team Management: Manage project teams to achieve exceptional project results that meet or exceed client expectations
o Quality Assurance: Maintain a focus on delivering high-quality technical deliverables and project outcomes, enhancing client satisfaction
o Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong client relationships, developing high-quality proposals to secure new business
About You
o Qualifications in environmental science, planning, or related degree discipline
o 5+ years of experience in environmental planning or environmental impact assessment (Victorian experience essential)
o Substantial experience in a consulting environment
o Experience managing aspects of or working on Environment Effects Statements and/or Ministerial planning permit applications or planning scheme amendments in Victoria
o Strong knowledge of environmental and planning legislation, regulations, standards, and best practices at Victorian and Federal level
o Experience managing medium to large projects through the development spectrum, including managing timelines, budgets, and resourcing
o Enjoy working as part of a committed team and contributing to the technical development of others
o Adaptability to undertake a range of technical work based on project requirements
o Interest and aptitude in working across multiple disciplines
o Strong verbal and written communication skills
o Ability to develop and maintain positive team and client relationships
